Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest three individuals early Tuesday morning after responding to a burglary at the Barbee Hotel.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded Tuesday morning at approximately 1:55 a.m. to the Barbee Hotel located at 3620 North Barbee Road, regarding a possible burglary in progress. Officers arrived and discovered where entry had possibly occurred through a window area at the establishment. Deputies were also advised by a witness that several subjects had left the area of the removed window air conditioning unit carrying what appeared to be bottles.
K.C.S.D. deputies summoned the assistance of a Warsaw City Police Department K-9 unit that began a “canine track” leading to a residence at #62 EMS B70 lane. Officers surrounded the home and were able to finally make contact at the door with a Daniel Martin Motherwell, 52, Fort Wayne. Officers obtained a search warrant for the property after Motherwell refused to allow officers to enter the property to further investigate the burglary. Once inside, deputies located individuals matching the initial description of the fleeing burglars and other potential evidence. Offices subsequently arrested Sarah Ann Cummins, 21, Bloomington, and Tommy James Coonan, 20, Fort Wayne, on preliminary charges of felony burglary to a business/structure. Motherwell was also arrested and preliminarily charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor due to the under-aged party that was occurring at the residence.
Bonds for Cummins and Coonan were set at $5,000 individually, while Motherwell’s bond was set at $500. The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
