Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded with paramedics from Multi-Township E.M.S. last evening at 8:43 p.m. to the location of 11625 North, County Road 200 West, Milford, after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding a 21-month-old child that had been bitten by a dog. Emergency personnel arrived and paramedics immediately requested Lutheran Air to respond to the scene due to a large laceration to child’s forehead and facial area. Milford Fire Department responded to assist in the landing zone as the child was transported to Lutheran Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition.
Officers were advised by the mother, Amanda King, that the child had been petting the dog and inadvertently stepped on the 8-year-old Great Dane’s paw, causing the dog to immediately turn-around and bite the male toddler.
Also assisting at the scene was the Indiana State Police.
